In Ivano-Frankivsk, they discussed the creation of a Council of Families of Fallen Defenders, which is meant to become an effective communication platform where families from all communities of the Prykarpattia region can raise important issues and, together with specialists, work out proposals for resolving them.
This was reported by the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration, Svitlana Onyshchuk, as relayed by Pravda IF.
It is planned to involve both the families themselves and the civil society organisations that look after their interests in the Council’s work.
During the meeting, the relatives of the Heroes shared issues that require special attention. Among them are proper commemoration of the fallen, including during the nationwide minute of silence, and support for families in obtaining status documents, social guarantees and assistance.
At the meeting, the families were told about the implementation of veterans’ policy in the Prykarpattia region. This year almost UAH 77 million was allocated from the regional budget to support veterans and their families. Next year, funding is planned to increase.

The responsibility of communities was also stressed. It is important that every family of a fallen Defender can receive the necessary support regardless of where they live. For this, local programmes, support services and assistance mechanisms must work effectively.
Based on the results of the meeting, proposals will be prepared on the creation and organisation of the Council’s work.
“I thank every family for their openness, trust and active stance. Despite the pain you have endured, you find the strength to support others and defend the interests of the families of the fallen. We will continue to hold meetings with families in order to hear their needs and respond to specific appeals. It is our duty to be there, to hear every family and not to leave the issues they raise without attention,” said Svitlana Onyshchuk.
