The first space of the veterans’ corps has opened in Kharkiv. Servicemen returning from the front will be able to come here for help with work, treatment and legal issues. Sports events are also planned here, as well as help for veterans to get to know each other and support one another.
This was reported by Novyny.LIVE journalist Veronika Marchenko.

What Is Offered to Veterans
According to Kostiantyn Nemichev, deputy commander of the “Kraken 1654” unmanned systems regiment, in the new space veterans will be helped to solve various issues in one place. This covers job searching, legal advice, rehabilitation and psychological support. They also want to organise sports events and camping trips here.
“Today a veterans’ space opened in Kharkiv. It is a building where a veteran can feel at home. It is a one-stop window for veterans where they can turn and be helped with any issue,” said Kostiantyn Nemichev.

At the same time, the organisers want veterans not only to come for help but also to join the work of the corps themselves. To do so, the team first needs to tell as many people returning from the front as possible about the new space.
“The main task is to tell all veterans about this idea, so that people join, so that we move forward together and do useful things for those veterans who return from the front,” said Kostiantyn Nemichev.
What Changes Veterans Need
The chair of the Kharkiv Regional Council, Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko, also came to the opening. She acknowledged that far from all the issues veterans face can be resolved locally. Some of the problems, in her words, will have to be raised with the central government.
“We have a great many challenges, including ones that must be raised at the level of the central government, so that veterans’ policy issues are not just on paper but have real results and action,” stressed Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko.

At the opening she also congratulated Kostiantyn Nemichev on being awarded the title of honorary citizen of the Kharkiv region. The regional council presented the flag of the Kharkiv region to the representatives of the corps.

What the Regional Military Administration Says
At the opening of the space, the deputy head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Andrii Besedin, spoke about the difficulties encountered in supporting veterans. He noted that not all issues can be resolved quickly and that the results of this work are not always visible.
“For each of us, veterans’ policy is not just a field of work but the meaning we put into our daily work. In fact, this work is not always visible, and it is not always done as quickly as we would like,” said Andrii Besedin.
