One of the main tasks of the university environment is to shape a culture of design and management in which the needs of different people are taken into account as a matter of professional standard. The Institute and the “KNUCA Accessibility” working group regard education and research as tools for systemic change.
Possible educational formats
Introductory module for communities. Fundamentals of barrier-free design, analysis of critical services, principles of resident engagement and practical steps for a local roadmap.
Workshop for architects and engineers. Universal design, accessibility routes, working with regulatory requirements, common mistakes and verification of the result.
Module for universities. Inclusive education, accessibility of campuses, learning materials, digital systems and procedures for requesting accommodations.
Module for employers. Accessible workplaces, inclusive recruitment, adaptation of processes, communication ethics and support for the professional fulfilment of veterans.
Digital accessibility module. WCAG 2.2, semantic markup, forms, accessible documents, multimedia and testing with assistive technologies.
Research questions
How can accessibility be measured not by the number of elements but by the success of a person’s real pathway? Which barriers most often prevent veterans from returning to education and work? How do design decisions affect the autonomy of people with different needs? Which models of cross-sector partnership have the greatest effect for communities?
Scientific and methodological approach
Research should rely on transparent methodology, voluntary participation of respondents, protection of personal data, correct interpretation and independent professional discussion. If a study involves personal or particularly sensitive data, separate legal and ethical procedures are required.
For international partners
We are open to exchanging practices, joint educational modules, research, and discussing innovative materials and digital tools that improve accessibility. Specific projects and agreements are published only after confirmation by the partners.
